Food Network Star Contestants Busy Opening Restaurants

Photo - Twitter
There has been a lot of recent restaurant news involving previous contestants from Food Network Star.  Here are some of the most recent highlights:

  • Season 7 contestant Vic "Vegas" Moea recently opened a restaurant in March named Vic's just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.  A recent review raved about the food, while another review said the food was good, but service was not very good.

  • Season 8 contestant Philip "Ippy" Aiona also opened a restaurant in March named Three Fat Pigs in Waikoloa, Hawaii.  Fellow Food Network Star contestant Nikki Martin was also there to help with the opening and was working behind the bar as a beverage consultant.

  • Season 4 contestant and winner Aaron McCargo Jr. recently received a $100,000 grant for a restaurant from the city of Camden, New Jersey, which is where he grew up (link).  He still needs a lot of funds to reach his $1 million goal for the opening of the restaurant.  Seems like a lot of money for a restaurant in Camden, but there is a lot of construction to be done.

  • Season 2 winner Guy Fieri recently closed his restaurant Tex Wasabi's in Sacramento,California after six years in business.  He plans to quickly convert it into a Johnny Garlic's, which is another one of his restaurants (link).
