Chef Wanted With Anne Burrell - Oceano

Chef Wanted Oceano
A new episode of Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell is on Sunday night at 10pm this week, in addition to the normal Thursday time slot.  Sunday's episode will be trying to find an executive chef for the restaurant Oceano in San Juan, Puerto Rico (Side Note - Anne recently got engaged in Puerto Rico).  The chefs competing for the job this episode are Austin Henry, Carolyn Rivera, Robert Pagan, Christian Alejandro, and Michael Brady.  Spoiler after the jump if you want to know the winner:

I know five chefs are listed above, but only four will be competing on the episode.  This screenshot was taken from Youtube from the casting site, and has five chefs listed.  Also, you can see that Austin Henry is listed as the winner of this episode:

Chef Wanted Oceano Contestants

Austin is a chef at Coohills in Denver, Colorado, and there is a viewing party at that restaurant when the episode airs.  From an article earlier this month, Austin was still the fish chef at Coohills, so it looks like he is not at Oceano, but I guess we will be updated after the show.

UPDATE - It looks like Austin was at the Chef Wanted viewing party at Oceano in Puerto Rico (pictures here), and the video update at Food Network said he is on the job at Oceano.  I will update if I hear anything different.

  2. As much as I hate to say this, but Anne Burrell has never displayed any type of talent or food knowledge. Its extremely difficult to watch her programs as they don't enhance Food Networks used to be creative and interesting shows. As I see Bobby Flay team up with her it does not make the shows a top notch program. Food Network has had so many interesting features especially on Sundays now the show Worst Cooks is what we must endure. You have had so much talent and worth while contest only to let those talented people slip away. Shame on you. I will not be spending time with a program that doesn't enhance knowledge and learning.  Goodbye hope you get it together soon. Lynn

  3. I'm absolutely horrified at how terribly Burrell treats these interviewing chefs.  I always loved her in her other shows.  In this show, on the other hand, she very well may alienate the crap out of Americans, most notably the male population.  Just deeply disappointing.

  4. First I would love to know where they buy cheap platanos en PR, second they need to learn to be respectful to others peoples culture. This guy should close this place and move back to LA again ...

  5. The entire premise of the show is such a lie, it could work on some level as a competition show if they would just stopped pretending that these people are competing for jobs.

Not sure if its the quality of the candidates or just how they choose to edit it but almost no one who 'wins' comes across as actually being capable of running a kitchen anyway. But then again winning seems to be pointless anyway since no one seems to get actually hired.

I think Food Network is slowly ruining the channel with this junk.

  6. The Food Network update has been posted.  Sounds like Austin is on the job at Oceana. loving what he's doing, and the owner is pleased, too.

  7. You have spelled the name of this restaurant as both "OceanO" and "OceanA"...which is it?  I thought it was Oceana.  Woke up in the middle of this the other night but thought it was one of the best episodes ever.  Both of the final Chefs were superb, and I wish them both the best.

  10. Just watched this episode. The way Anne and the restaurant owners talk to these chefs is terrible!! I can't stand watching this show because its not fun to watch all the screaming and yelling and degrading these people!! It gives the restaurant business a bad reputation!
