Smitty's From Restaurant Impossible Has Closed

Photo - Food Network
Smitty's Restaurant in Clearwater, Florida, which was featured on season six of Restaurant Impossible has closed.  Last week they posted on their Facebook page, "Unfortunately smittys has closed. We thank everyone that has come in to eat after all these years. We greatly appreciate your patronage."

Also, on their website, they have the following message:
To our Valued and Unforgettable Smitty's Customers:

It has been a pleasure serving you all these years. But, the inevitable has occurred.
Our lease has expired and, our landlord has given us no choice but to move out due to the fact that he has increased our rent by 25% plus tax.
Thank you for your support throughout the years. You all will be missed dearly. It is with a heavy heart that we hope our paths cross again one day in the future as we say Goodbye.

God Bless,
Gus & Family
Smitty's Restaurant
You may remember Smitty's because of the roach problem they had during their episode.  The restaurant suffered from bad reviews, and also had numerous bad restaurant inspections.  This is the fifth restaurant from season six (2013) of Restaurant Impossible to close, and the Restaurant Impossible Update page has been updated to show this.

  7. The funny thing is, these jokers think they're upsetting people here by poking fun at Luca and by saying Lenny won. Maybe we'll find out on Sunday that Lenny did win, but I'd say if he did, then he'd likely have his prize withdrawn because a member of his family leaked it early on the fan page.
None of us are silly enough to be upset over their Luca comments. Defend him, sure, because he's being lied about, but upset, no. Silly rabbits, Trix are for kids.

  8. It wasn't a matter of if but when they would close. They lasted longer than I thought.

  10. I always wonder what drives people to jump into a restaurant without experience. Not sure if that was the case here, but it often is. I inspected hotels for 10 years and I'd hear the same thing from people over and over again. "I had no experience, but always wanted to own a hotel so I just did it." Ooookay, you spent at least a million, many times more and have no experience. What could go wrong????

  12. Someone posted even worse than the video. It's under the next blog post for the show and will link you to a transcript from
a board Lenny is on. It's bad. Really bad. If the Food Network lets this guy win they are in for trouble and after what Lenny says he would do to the pioneer woman I can't imagine she would be too thrilled with the network.

  13. Poor decor can be fixed. Poor training can be remedied. Kitchen skills can always be improved. But there's no fix for lazy, and a dirty place is a lazy one.

  14. I'm super curious to see this video of Lenny but I couldn't find it when I searched on youtube. Could you post a link or provide the title or youtube channel it was on?

Thanks if you get back to this! :)

  15. You can't go 2 miles without running into a Greek restaurant here, so if you're dirty and don't stand out, you don't stand a chance.
