Food Network In The News - 8/02/2012

The Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival starts a week from today August 9-12 and will feature celebrities such as Giada De Laurentiis, Guy Fieri, Michael Chiarello, Duff Goldman, Wolfgang Puck, and Andrew Zimmern.  There will also be a lot of past Top Chef contestants. (www.lafw.com)

Kara Sigle from Food Network Star shared her experience from the show such as being miked up to 20 hours a day and having to stay sequestered in New York after being eliminated so people couldn't determine the outcome of the show. (www.sj-r.com)

Anne Burrell confirmed there will be more Chef Wanted in the future on Twitter.  Hopefully they are more successful in filling the chef positions next season.  If you are a restaurant of chef interested, they are casting for the next season (Food Network Casting).  UPDATE - I reached out to Anne on Twitter and next season will have 13 episodes rather than 6.

Scripps Networks Interactive, who owns Food Network, reported revenues of $218.5 million for the Food Network in the 2nd quarter.

Chris Cosentino has made it past the first 2 eliminations on Top Chef Masters airing on Bravo.

In New York and interested in being an extra on a Food Network show on August 7th or 8th?  They need extras to portray roles as customers and the pay is a whopping $60 dollars to use towards a meal at a very nice restaurant (Ad on Craigslist).

8/3/2012 - Tonight's episode of 3 Days to Open with Bobby Flay is at The Cove Lounge in Harlem, New York.  For an update, it looks like the reviews of the restaurant are very good so far, but it seems like more of a hang out spot rather than just a restaurant.  While there are positive reviews of the food, a lot of reviews talk about the vibe, music, and cocktails there, so it looks like they are doing everything well.
