Cutthroat Kitchen Already Green-Lit For 4th and 5th Seasons

Cutthroat Kitchen has already been green-lit for its fourth and fifth seasons despite the fact that it is currently airing its second season on the Food Network.

While in its first season, Cutthroat Kitchen was already casting for its third season, and the third season was filmed in December of 2013.

Alton Brown recently revealed in an interview with Broadway World that the 4th and 5th seasons were green-lit and that the filming will take place in April-May.  The casting website for the show also is accepting applications for season 4.

Here is the excerpt from the Broadway World interview that references Cutthroat Kitchen:

VB: Would you share a little bit about Foods That Made America? When will that series air?

AB: Unknown at this point, and the reason for that is that no one at the time we started planning that program, no one realized that the show Cutthroat Kitchen was going to become a big hit. As a matter of fact, we were gearing that show up before Cutthroat Kitchen even went to pilot; now we've been green-lit for the fourth and the fifth seasons, so it eats up a huge amount of my production time. The short answer is, I don't know, because right now Cutthroat Kitchen is going great guns on Food Network and it's everybody's big emphasis right now.

VB: Well, my next question was "Will Cutthroat Kitchen be returning [for another season] in 2014?" - so there's my answer! Congratulations!

AB: Thanks very much! We're still in the second season, the shows from the second season are still premiering. The third season was shot in December, and four and five will be in April and May, so it's a good year.

It looks like the Food Network is going "all-in" with Cutthroat Kitchen by green lighting an additional 26 episodes of the show (13 per season).  Add in the rest of season 2 and all of season 3, there will be over 40 new episodes of Cutthroat Kitchen that still need to air.

  2. What is allure of this show? Cooking with some jerk-O creating stupid hurdles??

  3. Milk it baby, milk it. Why develop *good* new programming when you can rely on cheap fare like this? Blech

  4. I like the strategy involved in the bidding process and the creativity the chefs show to overcome those stupid hurdles.

  5. The Foods That Made America sounds like an intriguing show..... More educational (like Good Eats used to be) than reality, a historical perspective I hope...not a Diner review in the manner of triple D.

  6. they can be on for 22 seasons. It won't take away the fact that it's a terrible show. I'm sorry but if "the one who cooks best wins" isn't the criteria, it's pointless. I love Alton Brown, but I cringe every time I see an ad for this show. It's like an entire show built around the selfish jerkasses that Chopped gets sometimes.

  7. I simply can't tolerate Alton Brown. He has either become too smug or he always was and I didn't notice until a year ago.

  8. As much as I like Chopped, I did not care for this show. On Food Network, I want to see good cooking. If I want to see bidding strategy, I can watch poker (which is as boring to watch as it is fun to play).

  9. This is the most ridiculous show ever! I was shocked that Alton Brown would even agree to host this show.

  10. He's always been very smug. I used to absolutely hate to see a show with him in it, but grew to like him for the knowledge he shared in his show where he'd show WHY certain things worked in the kitchen.

If you insist on spreading gossip, learn to spell first at least! It doesn't sound like you are too good of a person either. Talk about a pot calling a kettle black! Wow! When you point your finger at someone, look at the other fingers on your hand--who are they pointing back at? That's correct--they are pointing back at you!

Wow, what a nasty, small minded gossip you are! Kick someone when they are down and you will someday find God's foot kicking you in the backside!

Ramsey? I think you have the wrong show, Michael. Robert Levine is the host and chef of this show NOT Gordon Ramsey. Ramsey is on a different show and different network. Before you post, you might want to make sure you are posting about the correct show, okay? :-)

Herbert, I guess it's because the shows are so much alike, but on different networks. I think that Gordon's show was out first and Food Network wanted a show just like the BBCA'S successful one. FN tends to copy successful food shows and that's true of other TV networks. I actually prefer Robert Irvine's personality over Gordon Ramsey's high temper cursing. They are both British and maybe that confuses people who aren't regular viewer's, too.

  17. You guys act like getting 10000 dollar makeover is a big prize. In the grand scheme of how much money they probably lost it is very little.
