Food Network Star - Star Salvation Winner (Spoiler Alert)

This week was the last week of Star Salvation, and at the end of the episode, it is down to Reuben Ruiz and Luca Della Casa, with the winner rejoining the Food Network Star competition in Las Vegas.  The episode of Star Salvation does not reveal the winner at the end and leaves it as a cliffhanger that you will need to tune in next week to find out who wins.

However, the preview of next week's episode reveals who won if you pay attention closely.  Read on to see a screenshot that lets you know who the Star Salvation winner is and who will be rejoining the Food Network Star competition (spoiler).

The preview of next week's episode can be found at the end of this video on the Food Network site.  You can fast forward to around the 2 minute mark to see the preview.  In the video, if you look closely, you will see that there is a station set up for Luca.  His name is on the sign between Loreal and Nicole (screenshot below).

It is kind of tough to see with someone standing in front of it and a shadow being there, but it is definitely Luca's name.  So this means Luca won Star Salvation and will be joining the competition next week in Las Vegas.

  1. Thanks for this! I was so bummed that Star Salvation left us hanging. I really wanted Luca to win Star Salvation and get back into the competition. Once he got the hang of interacting with the camera, he improved so much.

  2. I think Luca was sent to Salvation with the full intent of having him come back, since he was less a candidate for elimination on that episode than others. I believe The Powers That Be planned to generate fan sympathy for him so that he will ultimately win the final vote and get a show.

But then, I have a nasty, suspicious mind.

  3. Where this show is concerned, a nasty, suspicious mind is exactly what one needs. :-P

  4. Maybe you do, but sometimes a nasty, suspicious mind comes up with the right answer.

I felt like Chad really proved himself throughout salvation and I'm bummed that he wasn't able to make it to the finale. Out of the two left I hope Luca wins. I feel like Reubens salvation will be short-lived if he were to return.

  7. Regardless of how he is coming back, I'm just glad that he is. :)

  8. My nasty, suspicious mind is playing with me again. My latest theory is that FN never had any intention of allowing Martie and Chad back into the running, and that opportunity was strictly reserved for one of the current season's competitors. I think Chad was kept on for so long as a kind of red herring.

  10. Sorry, but I don't see people tuning into Sunday mornings to watch Lenny or Loreal. And I bet the food network knows that.

  11. SPOILER ALERT on who wins Star Salvation: So do not keep reading this if you do not want to know.

On the preview of the next episode it gives it away if you noticed in that 1 second scene.

They set up a station for....luca. YAY

  12. Or he'd only be allowed back if the current crop was a complete bust.

Also: it isn't paranoia if they really are out to get you. ;)

  13. Agreed. While I understand the need for marketing/selling cookware, etc., why can't they do that stuff more behind the scenes? Watching the challenges, I want to vote on and see someone who:
    Cooks appetizing/fabulous-flavor dishes
    Teaches simply, clearly, encouragingly
    Is warm/inviting w/ a good smile...and isn't:
Obnoxious, freaky, conceited or dull. THAT--makes a Star! IMO

  14. Rueban could have said," The flavors of Miami will take you over the Moon...up to the Moon ...onto the Moon...etc"! Not that hard to relate the two.

  15. The theory isn't hard to believe. If true, it's disheartening. Nothing against Luca personally, though. I realize the shows are taped and over, but to see a lot of comments where the viewers have been more impressed by others they feel are doing better and then to have the network put in a winner when people like 2 or 3 others better. ..wellll, ..not good.

  16. Well, you know what an ugly turn my mind can take!

  17. What is it about her that makes you gag? This is not an attack, just curious. I criticized her myself about the first episode, but she's grown since then. For those who talk about flirting w/bobby flay, he didn't act offended and liked her dish in that same episode. So...90% of the audience has since mived-on from those things. Sarah learns snd grows. As for cutting to her and her comments, they ALL make comments but why does the network choose to air hers? Maybe she's just better on camera than some others? If it seems like I'm over-defending her, know that I actually think Nicole has been doing even better, more consistent/reliable on teaching/speaking AND cooking.

  18. Not saying you're wrong at all. I find myself wondering, OK, if FN wanted to engineer a win, why Italian? (yes, I do like Italian food), is Giada getting ready to "hang it up" and Luca is her protege'/replacement? Maybe not. But again, why Italian? Why not some new niche/angle that isn't already being done?

  19. Just suppose.....that Rueben came back, instead? Now what?

  21. Maybe they see him as the next Gabriele Corcos.

  22. Because for all their talk of wanting diversity, they probably don't - they want "safe" cuisine types and energetic chefs to deliver it, because that what is probably sells to their audience which seems to be older, fairly white and mostly MidWest/Southern.

    Luca fits that perfectly.

  23. Rueben isn't coming back.

  24. The winner isn't promised a series anyway.

  25. Reuben was dying in that spacesuit, and it affected his whole performance. Also, the label on Nicole's product had coastal misspelled, and although she pointed it out, no replacement label was made, and it kind of took the wind out of her sails.
