Restaurant Impossible - Foxfire Grill Update

Photo - Twitter
Tonight on Restaurant: Impossible, Robert Irvine and his crew are in Alexandria, Virginia to makeover Foxfire Grill.  Foxfire Grill is owned by Terri Fox and Jacki Coppage who cannot figure out why they are not making money.  The restaurant is in a good location, they're smart and work hard, but that still isn't enough.  Robert Irvine will have to figure out how to turn the restaurant around.

As I normally do with Restaurant: Impossible episodes, I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about Foxfire Grill to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Robert Irvine visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Restaurant: Impossible):

Positive Reviews:

  • "We've been here twice and both times the food was great. Recommend the burgers- very juicy. Very friendly wait staff and dog friendly on the patio."
  • "I have been coming to Foxfire almost every week for about 12 years, usually on Mondays. Guess I like it, huh? Best are the hamburgers (almost half-price), the congeniality, and the friends I have made over the years."
  • "I stumbled upon this place by chance, and what a great find. It has a great atmosphere. Nicely decorated. The food was exclent, and the service even more impressive. I know I will be coming back many times to come. The bar is also as nice to hang out at. My favorite, the faux swing seats."
  • "Foxfire recently had a makeover on Restaurant Impossible. It looks great and my steak was incredible. Love the atmosphere and love the food. Great eatery - enjoy and bon apetite!."
  • "It was our first time here and our experience was awesome. We were welcomed energetically by Rod and it just keeps getting better after that. He was the perfect employee. Enthusiatic, attentive, friendly and patient. The food were great as well. The ambiance was perfect especially the seats. We love this place and will definitely come back."

Negative Reviews:

  • "When I heard about the Restaurant Impossible filming, I gave this restaurant another shot. It's less than five minutes from my house, but I hadn't been in years due to a string of horrible experiences. Well, I'm here to tell you nothing has changed...same overpriced crappy food. Sure, the inside looks great, but i don't care about the atmosphere when the food sucks....And the prices? Ridiculous for the quality. This restaurant is failing and will continue to fail because it is overpriced and the food is just not good. Never again."
  • "We visited the foxfire after its official reopening post Robert Irvine's Restaurant Impossible visit, hoping that it would be a grand difference from the experiences we have had in the past. The renovations are truly spectacular; however, the food is still a pretty big flop. We ordered a build your own frittata with no potatoes on the side and it came with added ingredients not asked for, and came with the potatoes which are loaded with peppers for some reason. We also ordered a brunch burger, requested medium but it came well done and dry as a bone. We left unsatisfied and are not planning on returning in the future."

Other News and Links:

  • The Restaurant Impossible makeover happened in September 2019.
  • Here is the Foxfire Grill website and Facebook page. Their Facebook page isn't very active, and they haven't posted in over six months.
  • In the comments section of a local blog post, a couple people thought that Foxfire wasn't in need of a makeover and did the show for publicity.
  • Here are the reviews for Foxfire Grill from Yelp, Tripadvisor and Google.
    • The reviews before the makeover were also pretty good.

Conclusion:

The reviews for Foxfire Grill are mostly positive since the Restaurant Impossible makeover with people complimenting the makeover, food (especially the burgers), and atmosphere. The reviews before the makeover were also pretty positive and some locals were under the impression that they didn't need help.  The Foxfire Grill Facebook page isn't very active, so they may want to work on that, especially after being on national television.
