Food Network Star Season 11 Episode 1 Now Available To Watch

The eleventh season of Food Network Star is scheduled to begin on Sunday, June 7th, but you can currently watch the first episode for free multiple ways.  I have Comcast cable, and it is available for free On Demand (I did TV Shows A-Z, then picked show Food Network Star).  Also, the Food Network site has the episode available, but you will have to enter your cable provider information.  If you have a different cable provider such as Direct TV, Verizon, etc. leave a comment to confirm if the episode is available on demand there as well.

The first episode of Food Network Star introduces the contestants and they are then challenged to produce a 30-second introductory video and serve a dish to 100 people at a food festival.  They are judged by Giada De Laurentiis, Bobby Flay, Bob Tuschman, Susie Fogelson, and a People editor.  I will not spoil anything in this section, but lets just say I think there will be a new "most-hated" Food Network Star contestant this year.

If you are interested in who will be hated and who was eliminated during the first episode continue reading/scroll down.  Also, if you want more information about this season, visit this post.

The contestant who will be hated due to how he acts on the episode is Matthew Grunwald, who you may remember from Cutthroat Kitchen and the Cutthroat Kitchen: Evilicious tournament.  He is still talking about hashtags.  I can't wait to see the comments after people watch the episode, but the show may keep him around for some drama.

The top three contestants from the challenge in this episode were Jay Ducote, Eddie Jackson, and Arnold Myint.  The bottom three were Matthew Grunwald, Dom Tesoriero, and Christina Fitzgerald.  The judges decided that Christina would be the one going home and she will go on to compete in Star Salvation.

  3. I have high hopes for Arnold Myint. I was nuts about him on Top Chef season 7 and felt he was eliminated too early. He did manage to wow Jonathan Waxman with his kofteh and won the Mount Vernon grilling challenge.

He's a nice, fun, charming guy, and I am totally in his corner.

  4. I just watched it. Underwhelming.

From now on, Matthew Grunwald = #hashhole. Bob "#TheTusch" Tuschman likes him, so he'll be around until close to the end. Won't win, probably third place.

If I hear "Drag Queen" or any other variation of it again, I turn the show off until Mincing Myint is gone. It's going to be like a flame off between him and Tommy the fashion designer on MasterChef as to who's the most annoying.

First episode they send home someone one who should be in front of the camera and keep two who shouldn't be in front of a still camera much less a live one. I'll have to watch a few more episodes to get an idea who wins. At the moment, the overstuffed Gomer Pyle-a-like would seem the obvious choice.

  5. So glad Matt made us aware the episode was available. Just watched it. I think there is some real cooking talent on here this year. Great. I am glad they sent Christina home. Please send home the people who can't cook. I like Rosa but her arronccini? Can she cook? There are a few who are unlikable but can cook. I know that my opinion varies from a lot of people's but if I don't like you I won't watch you even if you can cook. Arnold Mynts plate was a work of art. I just had to add that bit, it was stunning.

  6. Thanks for watching guys! But please don't for one second say that I can't cook. I choked...There is absolutely no denying that. I have won numerous culinary competitions and awards for my food. Please try to be more empathetic to the many variables and daunting stresses that come with being on this show. Please stay tuned for Star Salvation and you may have a different opinion about my cooking ability; ) XO- Christina

  7. I don't watch the Cutthroat crap so I haven't seen that jackass before, but I hated him within 5 mins of this show. So of course, he's gonna stay till the end. Sigh..

  10. I watched it and I have dish. Not bad. Really hope that jerk Matthew doesn't make it far. But I'm sure his hashtag bit and attitude are good for TV in the producers eyes.

  11. And remember that Susie Fogelson championed and still supports Penny Davidi: proof there's no accounting for taste.

  12. Alex is known for his sandwiches here in DC, but perhaps he can work the Thai side of his cuisine. I've yet to see a Thai cooking show, and that's odd considering the proliferation and popularity of Thai restaurants.
