FEATURED STUNT

Chopped Teen Tournament - Premiering Tuesday, July 15th at 10pm
Teen-tastic! In this five-part event, sixteen talented teenaged chefs bring their extreme energy and ambition to the Chopped kitchen! These intense culinary whiz kids are aiming for perfect appetizers, entrées, and desserts, as they navigate through each round. The winner from each preliminary competition will head to the Grand Finale, with a huge prize on the line: $25,000 plus a culinary school scholarship! The teen chefs are given ingredients that could stump even top professionals, and in the end, only one will be named the first-ever Teen Chopped Grand Champion!

Premiering Tuesday, July 15th at 10pm - "Teen Tournament: Part 1"
For the first competition of this five part Teen Tournament, four very talented young cooks compete for a chance to move on to the finale and win $25,000 and a culinary school scholarship. The Chopped kitchen has never before been filled with this much raw talent, unbridled energy, or wide-eyed enthusiasm! In the appetizer round, the first group of young cooks must work with lamb loin chops and kale chips. Perhaps surprisingly, the teen chefs seem less than happy to get French fries and cookies in the entrée round, with one competitor on edge about whether a special addition to her plate will get cooked in time. And when the final two kids open the dessert baskets to find a frozen treat, will they meet The Challenge and transform the ingredient into something new and delicious?
Judges: Amanda Freitag, Marc Murphy, Geoffrey Zakarian

Premiering Tuesday, July 22nd at 10pm - "Teen Tournament: Part 2"
Intensity and energy abound in the second competition of the Teen Tournament! The judges are sure to be impressed by this fresh group of young competitors, who are revved up for their chance to rock the Chopped kitchen. Cleaning shrimp and slicing jalapeños are the first order of business in the appetizer round. The teen chefs have to hop to it when they find out they have to cook frog-leg entrees in 30 minutes. And in the dessert round, an iconic New York cookie must be combined with a popular nut.
Judges: Amanda Freitag, Marc Murphy, Geoffrey Zakarian

Premiering Tuesday, July 29nd at 10pm - "Teen Tournament: Part 3"
The Teen Tournament excitement continues with this thrilling third round! Four new teen chefs enter the Chopped kitchen with their sights set on becoming a champ and winning a spot in the Grand Finale. Will they think dandelion greens are a dandy ingredient for the first round? The fryer is in high-demand in the entree round, featuring Cornish hens. Then in the dessert round, the ice cream machine is The Kitchen tool of choice.
Judges: Alex Guarnaschelli, Chris Santos, Alex Stupak

Online, meet the teen competitors with a photo gallery and behind-the-scenes photos of each round, plus video previews and highlights for each episode. Do not miss a second of the action with ongoing blog coverage on FN Dish, and join the conversation at #Chopped.

  1. I cannot wait until the day arrives that Restaurant Stakeout and Mystery Diners have disappeared from the schedule permanently. They're so fake, contrived, and just irritating. The rest of the shows are all formulaic, but at least I can watch them.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Truly, those two programs are an utter blight on Food Network's schedule. Blatantly fake, badly acted garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  3. They actually started out with pretty realistic scenarios—such as mangers hiring waitresses based on looks or pocketing servers' tips—but the situations have become more contrived, unrealistic, and obviously staged as the seasons have progressed. I haven't been able to watch Mystery Diners since the dinner-theater episode.

Restaurant Stakeout isn't nearly as bad, especially since it tackles management problems as much as staff issues. However, the new season is considerably less believable.

  4. I agree with you completely here. That dinner theater episode of Mystery Diners really was unbearable.

  5. It's better than Ramsey's track record.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Who cares they are getting 10 Grand of a re-do and publicity for FREE. If they can't make it too freaking bad.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not his fault they failed. He can redo the space and redo the menu and teach them different ways of marketing all he wants but I'm the end, it's the owners job to make it all work.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Very interesting. I had no idea this show had been on for 9 seasons! After reading your very interesting Open/Closed page it basically confirmed what I have suspected. Places with cranky owners, poor service, or are dirty seem to quickly revert back to their old ways. On the flip side, places that had good reviews before the makeover seem to doing the best since the makeover.

    ReplyDelete
  9. alot of these restaurant owners seem low class and dirty and their restaurants are filthy. They won't change.

  10. I look at shows like this, and there are some things I don't understand. I look at shows like "Til Debt Do Us Part." Then I look at the shows on HGTV and DIY, where thousands of dollars is sponsored to renovate people's stuff. They bring in professional teams. Why is there no financial assistance component to any of these rescue shows? They should do like the Princess Show. Give them 20K toward business debt if certain requirements are met. And bring in professional consultants like market researchers to see what might fit best for that area. Give them some branding help and 30 days of advertising. Send back helpers after the star of the show leaves.

  11. From the few places I tried to research, any of the ones Ramsey did were in far worse shape to start with. Personally, I don't know why all these shows wait until these places are 30 days from closing. Why not 90 to 120 days? At least give them a quarter to recover. And why is there no assistance given for their past due debts?

  12. Regardless, this is a pretty amazing success rate. Much better than Gordon Ramsay's...

  13. The restaurants are also in a much worse state on Kitchen Nightmares (which is what I believed you mean, Hells Kitchen is the contest show). Ramsey went in and pretty much threw them a Hail Mary. Those that were willing to try and work hard, did survive, some just sold to get out of the mess they were in and others were too arrogant and lazy to follow through.

  14. You guys realize most restaurants fail right, his record is simply amazing actually. I've gone to culinary school and I major in business now. I can tell you that 90% of all new restaurants fail. It bugs me when people criticize things that they are not educated in. Running a restaurant is probably one of the hardest things to ever go into. Long hours barely enough pay, people see the rich master chefs and think that everyone is like that, no sorry it's not that way. Keep in mind these business's were already failing and he only had a couple of days to help. This is nothing less than amazing.

  15. These people know nothing about business. I realized that stupid people get angry because they don't understand things and are always confused to what is going on.

  16. 45 out of 61 are great statistics when you consider the high failure rate of restaurants in general and these are all restaurants in extremely poor circumstances.
