'Beat Bobby Flay' Judges Include Giada De Laurentiis, Justin Warner, Scott Conant & More

Back in August, a new Throwdown type show with Bobby Flay, called Beat Bobby Flay, aired a pilot episode on the Food Network.  Then in October, the show was picked up for a season and started the process of casting competitors to go against Bobby Flay.  For the pilot episode, Jeff Mauro and Alex Guarnaschelli were judges, and it was not known if they would be on every episode or just on the pilot.

The filming of Beat Bobby Flay happened this past week and by looking at social media, it appears there will be rotating judges for the show.  The photo to the right was on Katie Lee's Instagram and said "How does a girl get so lucky? Filming today w/ @bobbyflay and @conantnyc @foodnetwork"

Also, the below photo of Eden Grinshpan (from the Cooking Channel) and Justin Warner appeared on Eden's Instagram which said "Judging table with @eatfellowhumans #foodnetworklife #iloveit!"

Sunny Anderson posted the following picture the the caption "I call this pic, "The Only Way I'll "Beat" Jonathan Waxman In The Kitchen" A new @bflay show is near!

Chef Brian Duffy tweeted "Hey @bflay @chefsymon @foodnetwork it was a pleasure meeting u guys last night 4 #beatbobbyflay! an honor 2 spend some time & Judge!!" and added the below picture to Facebook:

So, the list of known judges for Beat Bobby Flay includes: Scott Conant, Katie Lee, Giada De Laurentiis, Sunny Anderson, Jonathan Waxman, Justin Warner, Eden Grinshpan, Brian Duffy, Michael Symon and Mo Rocca. (Frank Prisinzano and Marco Canora are probably judges too according to this tweet).

I guess Katie Lee has signed on with the Food Network as she will also be a host on the upcoming show The Kitchen.  Also, it appears Justin Warner may still have a working relationship with the Food Network with him appearing on this show as a judge.

Look for Beat Bobby Flay to air sometime in March.

  2. I'm not sure guest judging on 1 episode of a half hour show qualifies for figuring out what to do with him.

  6. At this point, a straightforward cooking show. I'd take eight hours of Ina over this competitive nonsense. (Speaking of, she was on The Chew and couldn't have been more adorable, saying that one of the most frequently asked questions she gets is, "Is Jeffrey your real husband or your tv husband?")

  7. Right. It gets old. Really old. But the network doesn't get it and just keeps making more competitions, each one more outrageous than the last. It's like a shock-jock in radio who's audience is already so numbed over and who is just digging themself in deeper by contin uing. Flay's Throwdown was good but thats about the only competition that is. Cooking shows are better. Instead of making half a dozen spin-offs on the same concept, why not add new genre's or types of foods or foods from new countries? Instead of 5 back to back showings of Diners, Drive-in's and Dives, how about better creativity and variety of foods? Just ask the audience.

  8. Problem of course being (and this isn't isolated to just FN or CC) it's more about what the network bigwigs want to sell the viewers and not about giving the viewers what they want.

  9. I agree, but Gawwd, how stupid is that? Did these bigwigs ever stop to consider that if they give the people what they want that if they want (ask them! take a poll, Tweet about it to the viewers!) that they'd get, quite simply, more viewers, and more ratings? D'uh, this is really a no-brainer and why it wasn't already done yesterday just astounds me. Ohhh wellll...
