Boil & Roux - Restaurant Impossible Update

On this week's episode of Restaurant: Impossible, Robert Irvine and his crew are in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to makeover Boil & Roux. Boil & Roux is owned by Maurice who claims to be proud of his restaurant, but his lack of leadership and inability to inspire his staff is causing the restaurant to fail. Robert Irvine will need to teach Maurice how to lead effectively in hopes of turning the restaurant around.

As I normally do with Restaurant: Impossible episodes, I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about Boil & Roux to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Robert Irvine visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Restaurant: Impossible):

Positive Reviews:
  • "Listen I'm not going to Popeyes or Churches or any other chicken spot. They have perfected the fried chicken. If you want hot and fresh go to Boil and Roux for the Best."
  • "Great tasting food. Although we were a large party our waitress was so attentive."
  • "If I could, I'd definitely give this place a 6 star rating. Great atmosphere. Amazing service. Most of all, phenomenal food."

Negative Reviews:
  • "Poor Service... Seafood combo was so salty it had to be returned, sausage gumbo was just okay. Pasta dish was just okay, Caesar salad consisted of iceberg lettuce and Parmesan cheese. Fried shrimp was okay. Won't be returning"
  • "Just avoid this place. You will find much better food and service all over baton rouge. Very poor service (slow, waiters don't know menu, cold food served, etc) atmosphere is like someone's personal house party, bathrooms straight out of an internment camp, and the food seriously misses the mark. I give this place 2 stars because some of the food items were OK and the price justified trying it once."
  • "Service is terrible. Waited over a hour to get menus and another hour to get food. Asked for a to go boxes 4 times and currently still waiting on them. My 8 year old niece has been waiting on boiled shrimp over 2 hours. Not to mention we are here for a baby shower. I understand our server is working by herself and her co workers see she's struggling and no help. When the food came it was good but not worth the wait!!!!"

Other News and Links:
  • The Restaurant Impossible makeover for Boil & Roux happened in September 2022.
  • Here is the Boil & Roux website and Facebook page.
  • Here are the reviews for Boil & Roux from Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Google.
    • The reviews before the makeover are not that great.

Conclusion:

The reviews for Boil & Roux since the Restaurant Impossible makeover have been mixed with there being mixed reviews about the food and complaints about the service.  The reviews before the makeover were not that great, so maybe the most recent reviews are a bit of an improvement.
