Grumpy's Diner - Restaurant Impossible Update

Photo - Robert Irvine Facebook

On this week's episode of Restaurant: Impossible, Robert Irvine and his crew are in Madison, Florida to makeover Grumpy's Diner.  Grumpy's Diner is owned by Jessica, who is struggling to keep the business open.  She wants to pass the restaurant down to her son Justin, but he lacks the self-confidence to be able to make the restaurant a success in the future. Robert will need to get Justin to believe in himself so he is trusted to take over Grumpy's

As I normally do with Restaurant: Impossible episodes, I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about Grumpy's Diner to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Robert Irvine visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Restaurant: Impossible):

Positive Reviews:
  • "This is an amazing restaurant I really enjoyed the burger I had. This establishment also has a wide variety of specialty sauces available for purchase. Overall 4-5 quality service and good food."
  • "Super delicious grilled cheese with jalapeño cream cheese and raspberry jalapeño jelly with a side of coleslaw. Excellent service."
  • "We stopped here for breakfast on a birthday trip a while back. The food was not fancy. The food was not expensive. The food was GOOD and served by genuinely friendly folks. We'll be back soon."
  • "Wow! Just got done eating at Grumpy's in Madison. It was a delight. I had the Awesome Burger with sweet potato fries which were delicious. My husband had the Grumpy Burger with regular fries. All were great. THEN we finished with their Banana and Carmel Pie!! That topped off a great lunch at a local lunch place where the waitresses know their customers and their regular orders. Only downside, they close at 3 pm"
  • "We stopped here for lunch on our way to Seaside and so glad we did. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The burgers were very good! Would definitely come back!"
  • "Nobody here is grumpy, just good southern hospitality. The were many choices on the menu but I got the special of the day. I hope they are serving Philly cheese quesadillas on the day you visit."
  • "Grumpy’s is a Madison favorite! The burgers are fantastic and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Best coffee in town."
  • "What a gem of a little restaurant. We were camping in the nearby rv resort and stopped by for a cinnamon roll. The people were so friendly and the restaurant was so cute we stayed for breakfast and the food did not disappoint, biscuits and gravy and an omelette were outstanding. Will definitely come back again before we hit the road."

Negative Reviews:
  • "Ordered an omelette that comes with hash browns and toast. No hash browns or toast brought with omelette. Had to ask for hash browns. Never had bad service before. Coffee tasted old and not hot. Very disappointing since this was one of my favorite local restaurants."

Conclusion:

The reviews for Grumpy's Diner since the Restaurant Impossible update are very positive with people liking food, service, and atmosphere.  It seems that a lot of people comment about the friendly service and Southern hospitality.  It also seems like they have a lot of regulars due to this, so the appearance on national television may turn new customers into repeat customers.
