Moondoggy's Pizza & Pub - Restaurant Impossible Update

Photo - Robert Irvine Facebook

On this week's episode of Restaurant: Impossible, Robert Irvine and his crew are in Brunswick, Georgia to makeover Moondoggy's Pizza & Pub.  Moondoggy's Pizza is owned by two best friends, Renesha and Brandy, who have no idea how to run their restaurant.  Renesha feels disrespected by staff and customers while Brandy is failing to be a leader and communicate.  This is putting the restaurant deeper in debt and in danger of closing.  Robert will need to teach them the basics of running a restaurant and how to build better culture among the staff.

As I normally do with Restaurant: Impossible episodes, I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about Moondoggy's Pizza to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Robert Irvine visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Restaurant: Impossible):

Positive Reviews:
  • "Ordered delivery on a visit to Brunswick. Our food got there within the estimated time. The delivery guy was very friendly. The pizza and marinara were very good. The breadsticks were beyond plain. Not even sure they had butter on them. Get the pizza but skip the breadsticks"
  • "We had a community meeting here. To be honest, I had no idea what to expect food wise… the pizza is very good, more than that, the cheese pizza was stunningly brilliant. I mean, maybe the best cheese pizza, ever…Plenty of free parking.. Go enjoy"
  • "Stopped in for a quick dinner on March 23. The thin crust pizza was good and the young lady who served us was excellent. IMO, a real asset to the restaurant."
  • "Delicious pizza and good choice of drinks. I sat at the bar with my co workers and ordered the deep dish pizza. Took a while but it was worth the wait! Service was good as well. Our bartender was Janessa, very courteous and welcoming."
  • "One of our preferred pizza parlors in the area. The assortments and varieties of pizzas are numerous. The food is good, the beer is cold, and the wait staff is friendly!!"

Negative Reviews:

  • "Unfortunately just ok a bit disappointing had higher expectations after the whole TV make over thing."
  • "I went out of my way to frequent this establishment because of the high ratings it got on a search site. I ordered a large pizza, half mushrooms, half sausage and a large Italian sandwich. When I got home and opened the box the pizza was in, the mushrooms and sausage were mixed, the crust was burned and at best it covered 70 % of the bottom of the box. The large sandwich was slightly larger than a hot dog roll and it had little meat in it. Hopefully, just a bad night for moondogies."
  • "Not very saucy on the dry side, ordered regular crust but got a burnt thin crust. Was with others, I wasn't paying. Not up to me to ask for the right pizza. My brother is still apologizing for taking me there."

The reviews for Moondoggy's Pizza & Pub since the Restaurant Impossible makeover are mostly positive with people liking the pizza and service.  There are a few negative reviews about burnt crust, but it could be how they make the thin crust pizzas.  Moondoggy's also has a lot of nightly events to entice people to come to the bar/restaurant.
