Here is some more recent news involving Food Network shows and chefs/personalities from the Food Network:

  • Scripps Networks Interactive reached a short term deal with Netflix, and Food Network shows such as Alton Brown's Good Eats are now available on Netflix.  The deal includes shows from Food Network, Travel Channel, and HGTV,
  • After the Neelys filed for divorce last week, TMZ reported that they were separated during the filming of the show and that they "hated each other FOR YEARS."  They also said that the marriage was doomed even before the show started, and "the pressures of TV made things a lot worse."
  • Ina Garten is releasing a book called Make It Ahead: A Barefoot Contessa Cookbook on October 28th, 2014.  Despite the release date not being until next month, the book is already on the Best Seller List on Amazon in the "Cookbooks" category.
  • Paula Deen continues to make appearances on shows to try to promote her new Paula Deen Network.  One appearance definitely done for PR purposes was her going on the Steve Harvey Show.  She is teaming up with Steve Harvey to mentor 100 youths who are mostly African American.  Here is Jezebel's take on the partnership.
  • Mario Batali will be opening an Eataly in Los Angeles, however it will not open until 2017.

  1. The Neelys....."they hated each other for years".........YOWZA!!!!! Change their name to the PHONYS. I could never get past the first few minutes of their show. All that PDA was hard to watch.

  2. And to think, that nauseating PDA was all fake. To me, that makes it even worse.

  3. Maybe their dislike of each other explains why the PDA was so over the top. It was forced.

  4. Yay, Food Network is finally on Netflix!!! I just checked what this deal entails: Cupcake Wars, Good Eats, Cutthroat Kitchen,
Chopped, Restaurant Impossible, The Pioneer Woman, and Diners,
Drive-Ins, and Dives. And Rachel Ray's Week In A Day is also available through Cooking Channel.

Why are they even bothering with Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives? Even if you were a fan of the show, you can watch it several times a day on Food Network anyway. DVR the show, and you never have to leave your couch.

I'll probably watch some Good Eats. I loved that show. And I'll watch older episodes of Restaurant Impossible, before it went to crud.

  7. The Phonys, ummm I meant to say Neelys have lost all credibility and integrity. Who can believe a word either one says??? They are done!

  8. Neely says: Gimme some sugar, honey
Neely thinks: bitch, I got some sugar for you

Man, that is just creepy to think about.

  9. Ina doesn't have any reviews for the book yet. She is just on the best sellers list, meaning they are counting pre-ordered copies of the book as sales.

  10. Absolutely spot on. I always thought there was something fake about the PDA and after about 5 episodes, quit watching.

  11. Amazon will allow reviews before the release date if the publisher has provided copies of the book to Amazon's Vine reviewers. Also, I am part of an author's "street team" and so I get ARC copies and if the author's publisher gets permission from Amazon, people with ARC copies can leave early reviews.

  12. The Neelys were one of the first ones to turn on Paula Deen, now look at the hoax honey baby and sugar darling have perpetuated. They are no better.

  13. Read Jezebel's take on the Steve Harvey/Paula Deen collaboration and was glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks they are both about money and not integrity. The comments were spot on.

  15. Paula dear.....the party is OVER! Some celebs don't know when to go home, instead they choose to beat a dead horse.
