On this week's episode of Restaurant: Impossible, Aaron Sanchez, Jen Agg and their team are in North York, Ontario to makeover La Mexicana. La Mexicana is almost 40 years old and has had success in the past, but they are currently going downhill. The owner Martha needs a reality check if she wants her business to turn around.
As I normally do with Restaurant: Impossible episodes, I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about La Mexicana to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Restaurant Impossible visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Restaurant: Impossible):
Positive Reviews:
- "Very homely and friendly place. Marta the owner is a lovely person. Authentic Mexican food"
- "Amazing food and the live music was great. We’ve driven by so many times and finally tried it. What a hidden gem! We will be back."
- "I have dined in here for three times now and I had an awesome experience every time! I totally recommend this place to people who want to experience quality Mexican food."
- "Great salsa and nachos. Good taco bowl. Food and vibes are not downtown fancy but this family resto is a neighborhood gem."
- "Incredibly delicious and fresh food. Staff are lovely and welcoming. I’ve come here multiple times and I will continue to. By far the best Mexican food in the city!"
- "Amazing food and even better service! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Definitely coming back!"
Negative Reviews:
- "We asked for a second basket of chips while waiting, the owner/manager said no! Quality of food has deteriorated. Ordered burritos... dry and very little meat. Service is slow even though very few people in restaurant. Definitely not worth the visit. Not returning."
