GUY FIERI SENDS SUPERSTAR CHEFS RACING THROUGH THE AISLES IN GUY'S GROCERY GAMES ALL-STARS

Five Episode Stunt Premieres August 23rd at 8pm ET/PT on Food Network

 NEW YORK – July 20, 2015
Guy Fieri hosts some of the biggest stars from Food Network and Cooking Channel in special summertime stunt, Guy’s Grocery Games All-Stars, premiering Sunday, August 23rd at 8pm ET/PT on Food Network. Each of the five episodes features four culinary all-stars competing in a number of challenges as they navigate their way through the aisles of a grocery store with curveballs from games such as the Fieri Food Pyramid or the feared Food Wheel. Whether it is preparing an upscale dinner using frozen and canned foods, making a noodle dish from the clearance carts or creating a dinner using ingredients from the produce aisle only, each All-Star chef has to shop, prepare, and plate three different dishes using only what they can grab from the grocery store aisles. One-by-one the losing All-Stars check out, determined by a rotating panel of judges that includes Richard Blais, Melissa d’Arabian, Duskie Estes, G. Garvin, Troy Johnson, Beau MacMillan, Brian Malarkey, Catherine McCord and Aarti Sequeira. In the fifth and final episode, each All-Star is teamed up with a professional athlete, giving them even more of a sporting chance to be the victor and go on a shopping spree for a cash prize for their charity!

Then, they must prepare a decadent dinner using only ingredients from the produce aisle. The winning judge learns how challenging the Shopping Spree really is as they race to earn up to $20,000 for their charity of choice.

Then, the remaining two All-Stars must turn a kernel of an idea into their best dish using 1 ingredient – corn, in 2 different ways, with ingredients from 3 aisles. Our winning All-Star shops for up to $20,000 for their charity.

  1. I find it very interesting they are resurrecting Pat Neely on the network. I wonder if we will start to see more of him.

  2. Penny? Again? Still? Really?

I guess I would not quite consider her an all-star. But I guess she shows up on time!

  3. Penny Davidi is not a "star" by any stretch and was horribly annoying on NFNS.

  4. Too bad he's not competing against Gina. Bwa-ha-ha!

  5. She's evidently mellowed, but that still doesn't mean FN should be promoting her. At lest if she wins, the money won't be going into her pocket.

  6. I thought it was a bit of a stretch calling her an "expert" in Mediterranean food on Bar Rescue. The shows I've seen her on gave me the impression she wasn't an expert at anything.

  7. I'm looking forward to this set of shows. I've really gotten to like GGG. Fieri is toned way down and is actually pretty funny when announcing the swerves. I'll give credit where credit is due! It's one of the few cooking competition shows I care to watch anymore.

  8. But she knows everything there is to know about saffron!

  9. "Four World Class All-Stars, Ron Ben-Israel, Penny Davidi, Pat Neely and Justin Warner"

That's more like one world class expert (Ron), two also-rans (Penny/Pat) and a creep. Should be interesting.

  10. Wait....is Penny Davidi really Ilan Hall from Top Chef in drag??!! lol

  11. I was hoping someone would invoke Ilan.

  12. FN no longer stands for Food Network; more like Fieri Network. Guy has infiltrated the FN kitchen with his antics and annoyances. Am I missing something here because I find him obnoxious and grating. The plus side of Food Network forcefeeding Guy Fieri means less Giada cleavage and fake grinery overdose. Give me Chopped without the celebrity gimmicks anyday.

  13. kookoobirdz: I agree with your assessment of Arnold. IMO he takes the gayness/drag queen quirkiness too far to where it has become his shtick. His exaggerated facial expressions and lavender language and gay speak are no longer endearing and he has become a gay caricature and equivalent to what 'blackface' is to African-Americans.

  14. I'm waiting to see if there is more "audience outrage" next episode.
Most everyone seems to feel that either Alex or Dom should go next. And so.....

What if it were someone else instead?
    Outrage? Drama? "Ratings?" (Shrug).
What if Alex goes AND Dom has another camera-fail? Curious to see how folks online would react if it ends up being anything different than what 90% of us are expecting.

  15. Can't they just bring back Sara Moulton already and end this decade long nightmare?

  16. I'm not sure I'd quite take it that far or specific so much as just to focus on overamplification and acting in general. While any host is playing a role to a degree, anybody who is trying too hard to play a specific character comes off as disingenuous and off the mark. If Eddie were all the time going superhard macho and flexing and barking at the camera pro wrestling style like a guy who just scored an NFL touchdown, you'd just be like, "Come on, man, tone it down, that's not who you are and that's not what this is." If Dom was always like "Eyyyyy fuggedddaboutit, whatsa matta you, atsa spicy meatball" and making that Italian WTF/animated hand gesture you'd be like, "Oh please man, just be yourself". If Jay tried to fake a whole Justin Wilson Cajun cartoon character persona we'd roll our eyes and tell him how embarrassed we were for him. Sita did a little bit of this, working her neck and affecting an exaggerated combative accent and speaking of herself in third person, and everybody was like "No."

I think Arnold is talented and has a lot to offer and could focus his enthusiasm, upbeat personality, Thai roots, and relative presentation comfort in a more mature and effective way. I think he has shown this a number of times, and on other occasions has just pushed the jazzhands ta-daaa posing and more recently risque repartee over the line for this kind of setting, along with the exaggerated facial expressions as you mention. You wind up wanting to mist him down with chamomile vapor so he'd even out a bit and get back on form in a way that could win it for him. As it stands, sometimes I feel like he'd flourish on The Real World or another reality show like that where he could really cut loose and ham it up.

I guess Lenny showed that a cartoon can indeed win it, so maybe Arnold knows what he's doing. And the judges know better than me what sells, so there's another caveat. But myself I would rather hire and watch an upbeat versatile professional.

  17. That's a shame Judy. Mo is right, it's a good watch.

  18. Started digging around and found Destination America, but it wasn't on my cable choices. I tried one of the channels listed and got a Denied prompt, but tried the other listing and got it! There's a new series starting on August 9 about Life After Death and I'll be watching that for sure.

    Go away racist Jerry

McDonald's has spent the last ten years advertising itself as the go to food source for minorities and low income people with campaigns such as 365black(dot)com. Now that they are now facing the same sort of "white flight" that our failing inner cities faced years ago, they are desperately trying anything they can to resurrect their business. The chains are trashy and the food is little more than sodium soaked garbage and chemical compounds. When I see blatant advertisements like this I wonder if WBZ is a news organization or just a shill for any corporation who needs some free publicity? Does investigating whether you can custom order garbage at a chain restaurant really live up to the standards of investigative journalism that gave us Watergate. I think not.

McDonalds went all in on the low IQ negro (365 black) and predictably, are failing spectacularly because of it. Even had to fire their token AA hired CEO for gross negro incompetence. Once you go black you can't come back.

  31. I'm the total opposite of you. I was really looking forward to the Kitchen but I just can't watch it anymore. There's just way too much yelling, mainly from Sunny. But since she's so LOUD, the others feel like they have to raise their voices too. They're all constantly trying to get a word in and end up talking over one another. I just can't take it anymore.

  32. I've noticed that former San Francisco Giants' shortstop Rich Aurilia is on this show... They did a feature story on his cooking here on local TV....Pretty interesting to see his name among the contestants along with former 49ers linebacker Takeo Spikes...
