Big Mama's Kitchen - New Food Network Show

There is a new show premiering on the Food Network Friday night at 10:30pm ET called Big Mama's Kitchen.  Given the time slot of the show and the fact that only one episode is on the schedule, this is most likely a pilot episode.  The show is airing in between re-runs of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and late on a Friday night, which probably isn't good for ratings.

The show description states:
"The best soul food in Nebraska is found at Big Mama's Kitchen. With three generations working in the restaurant, emotions are high as new recipes are debated and new employees are tested. No matter what's thrown at them, this family sticks together."
You may remember Big Mama's Kitchen as being on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives a few years ago.  The episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives that Big Mama's was on is actually airing before the pilot.  The restaurant is located in an old school, and the owner got Guy Fieri to try a pig ear.

Below is the video of the episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives that Big Mama's was on:

Fast forward to the 13 minute mark to get to the Big Mama's portion:

I guess this is another attempt by the Food Network to do a show about a family business. The Shed, which premiered earlier this year didn't seem to be too successful.

  1. I know it is just the poor pixelation, but that is a woman who does not look happy to have Guy Fieri mugging next to her.

  2. And Guy looks overly excited... What a shock there

  3. I didn't watch the episode but I just googled "Guy Fieri's stupidest quotes" to assign some moronic comment of his as the likely caption for this image. Lo and behold, there's one from that episode of DDD:

"At Big Mama’s Kitchen it’s all right ear, right now… or it could been the left ear… one of the most talked about bites, seen across the world is the floppy wonder (can you “ear” what I’m saying’?): the pig ear sandwich. I thought I was gonna die, but I gotta tell ya, it wasn’t as bad as you might think."

I'm sure she appreciated that ringing endorsement.

  4. This show isn't bad at all...underneath the hard exterior, she seems to be a good woman. Soul food sometimes strays out of Guy Fieri's comfort zone which is why he was hesitant to eat the pig ear sandwich on Triple D.

  5. I watched it I only kept it on that channel because I couldn't find the remote lol. I wouldn't watch it again. That woman "big mama" was SO negative about other peoples cooking.
