PRIMETIME PREMIERE EPISODES

All-Star Academy – Premiering Sunday, March 1st at 9pm

Ten home cooks from across the country are paired up with some of Food Network’s biggest names, including Bobby Flay, Alex Guarnaschelli, Curtis Stone and Michael Symon in the new culinary competition All-Star Academy. Hosted by Ted Allen, each home cook, with guidance from their Food Network mentor, competes in intense culinary challenges in hopes of elevating their culinary skills to the finish line. One-by-one, the challengers are eliminated by special guest judges who determine which dishes are not up to par. The last cook standing will earn the $50,000 grand prize.

Premiering Sunday, March 1st at 9pm – “Choosing Teams” – SERIES PREMIERE!
Ten home cooks from around the country are about to embark on the greatest culinary adventure of their lives, but first they will need to cook for a spot on a mentor’s team. Four of the biggest, most skilled chefs in the world, Bobby Flay, Alex Guarnaschelli, Curtis Stone and Michael Symon, will each have two home cooks to guide through the competition, but only one mentor and home cook will emerge victorious in the end. Who will it be? Special guest judge Simon Majumdar helps decide which home cooks have a chance to move on.

Premiering Sunday, March 8th at 9pm -“Mentors’ Choice”
The eight remaining home cooks must reinvent famous food pairings to stay out of this weeks’ elimination round. And these cooks do not want to disappoint, because they will be judged by their toughest critic yet, Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian. Which home cooks will move on one step closer to the $50,000 grand prize?

Premiering Sunday, March 15th at 9pm – “Battle of the Mentors”
For the first time ever in Food Network history, best friends and mentors Bobby Flay and Michael Symon try to take each other’s team down as all the mentors battle head-to-head to win a crucial advantage. Let the battles begin! Special guest judge Elizabeth Falkner gets in on the action determining which home cook is sent home.

Premiering Sunday, March 22nd at 9pm – “Frenemies”
Never before have we seen the mentors join forces to achieve victory. Be prepared as Bobby, Alex, Curtis and Michael become two super-teams to make the most spectacular three-course steak dinner with their home cooks. The losing team goes from friends to instant enemies as they cook off against each other in the elimination round, judged by Chopped judge Amanda Freitag and Chef John Li.

Premiering Sunday, March 29th at 9pm – “Second Chances”
Five home cooks remain as the mentors battle head-to-head to bring back an eliminated contestant of their choice. These competitive mentors will be put to the test, using tough ingredients like eel and vinegar, to whip up a dish worthy of a second chance. When an eliminated contestant returns, it is time for the six home cooks to battle it out in front of special guest judge Donatella Arpaia, to see who goes home in the elimination round.

Online in February, meet the competitors and mentors, and get the mentors’ competitive strategies and advice for home cooks, plus find out who mentored the mentors! Fans can find a highlights photo gallery featuring top moments from each episode, and exclusive video featuring top moments and tips from the mentors. Beat Bobby Flay

Premiering Thursday, March 5th at 10pm – “Foreign Relations”
The powerhouse duo of Giada De Laurentiis and Michael Symon team up once again to take down their friend Bobby Flay. Global chef David deCastro takes on Japanese-born chef Taichi Kitamura, for the honor to take on the champion in his house.

Premiering Thursday, March 12th at 10pm – “Fire in the Hole!”
The kitchen heats up when Brooklyn-born chef Jen Biesty takes on self-taught chef Chris Lamphier. Who will beat the heat when Chopped judge Alex Guarnaschelli and The Kitchen’s Katie Lee turn up the pressure?

Premiering Thursday, March 19th at 10pm – “To Contend and Serve!”
Naval chef Carla Harris brings her grit against seriously competitive chef Noah Schwartz, while Anne Burrell of Worst Cooks in America, and The Kitchen’s Geoffrey Zakarian use their expertise to determine who has the arsenal to beat Bobby.

Premiering Thursday, March 26th at 10pm – “Culinary Validation”
Puerto Rican chef Jose Adorno brings his Latin style against Italian chef Adam Halberg, with both fighting to make their mark, while Today show news anchor Natalie Morales and Chopped judge Scott Conant revel in making Bobby sweat.

Online, find behind-the-scenes photos, video highlights, interviews with contestants, bloopers and an exclusive blog interview with Bobby Flay. Plus, check out ongoing blog coverage of the new season in FN Dish. Follow the action on Twitter using #BeatBobbyFlay.

Chopped

Premiering Tuesday, March 3rd at 10pm – “Double Trouble”
Eight chefs comprised of cooking duos have been invited to the Chopped kitchen to compete in pairs. In the first round, the couples learn to navigate the space together as they make appetizers that include date vinegar and chili garlic coated peas. For the entree round, there is a lively sea critter in the basket, as well as some sweet potato patties. The two cooking couples who make it to the dessert round must come up with some fresh ideas for crème fraîche and port wine.
Host: Ted Allen Judges: Scott Contant, Alex Guarnaschelli, Aarón Sánchez

Premiering Tuesday, March 10th at 10pm – “T.G.I. Fry-Day”
It is fry-day in the Chopped kitchen and the judges will be expecting deep-fried deliciousness on every plate. In the first round, the competitors work with hot dogs and taro root. During judging on the entree round, featuring cookies and cube steak, the judges must debate whether a repeated mistake should warrant one chef’s elimination. An ooey, gooey cake and salted caramel make for some sweet creations in the final round.
Host: Ted Allen Judges: Scott Contant, Marc Murphy, Chris Santos

Premiering Tuesday, March 17th at 10pm – “Amateurs Redemption”
It takes a very brave home cook to take on Chopped once, and these amateurs are courageous enough to come back for a second time. In the first round, vegan roast is an ingredient to be reckoned with. In the second round, a small bird and a sugary breakfast item are part of the vexing entree puzzle that the amateurs must solve. Some sweet and savory candies and a special spice blend keep the last two competitors on their toes, as they fight to be the last one standing tall as the Chopped champion.
Host: Ted Allen Judges: Alex Guarnaschelli, Marc Murphy, Chris Santos

Premiering Tuesday, March 24th at 10pm – “Let’s Do Lunch”
In this competition, the usual rounds are replaced with breakfast, lunch and dinner. The morning meal must include tiny eggs and fancy coffee. In the second round, the chefs have to make midday meals featuring lunchbox favorite peanut butter and jelly. A strange turn of events in the dinner round finds one of the competitors searching frantically for an ingredient that has mysteriously vanished from sight.
Host: Ted Allen Judges: Marc Murphy, Amanda Freitag, Aarón Sánchez

Premiering Tuesday, March 31st at 10pm – “Fake Cake, Real Stakes”
It is a great fake out, when all the basket ingredients are in disguise. Everyone should taste the “chicken wings” in the first basket, which are a secretly sweet item. The “cake” in the second round and “tomato soup” in the dessert basket also require a close inspection. The duplicitous ingredients lead to trouble for all, and even more potential for trickery lurks in the pantry.
Host: Ted Allen Judges: Maneet Chauhan, Marc Murphy, Chris Santos

Online, catch behind-the-scenes photos, plus video previews and highlights. Do not miss new episodes of After Hours, including After Hours: April Fools premiering Tuesday, March 31st, as Chopped judges Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli and Geoffrey Zakarian create desserts with disguised ingredients. Chopped Canada

Premiering Thursday, March 5th at 9pm -“Steaking Their Claim”
Frog legs and cookies get things hopping in the appetizer round, as these four chefs face-off. Cherry cheesecake raises the “steaks” in round two as one chef finds a new and inventive use for a toaster! Ultimately, one chef is no “matcha” for the other, as paneer and elderflower liqueur take center stage in round three.
Host: Dean McDermott Judges: Lynn Crawford, John Higgins, Antonio Park

Premiering Thursday, March 12th at 9pm -“Every Round Has Its Thorns”
The contestants are challenged out of the gate as a host of unusual ingredients take the stage. Ready-made eggrolls and stilton cheese collide in the appetizer round, giving way to the odd pairing of blood sausage and lemongrass in the entree. The last two chefs struggle with sweet and salty in a dessert round featuring spicy salted plums and vanilla frosting.
Host: Dean McDermott Judges: Massimo Capra, John Higgins, Michael (Chef) Smith

Premiering Thursday, March 19th at 9pm -“A Brisket, A Basket”
There is no escaping the challenge in round one as four chefs battle to transform chicken hot dogs and dried fruit into a winning combination. Brisket proves a tough meat to handle in the second basket as the chefs fight to make it to the final round. Dessert is a prickly pickle as both chefs strive to create a delightful dish from cactus and crescent rolls.
Host: Dean McDermott Judges: Susur Lee, Michael (Chef) Smith, Anne Yarymowich

Premiering Thursday, March 26th at 9pm -“Taken Out by Takeout”
It is time to open the takeout containers in this episode. Greek salad and beef pho make for strange bedfellows in the appetizer round. The second round challenges the chefs to see who can transform a drive-thru staple into haute cuisine. The dessert round pits the remaining chefs against each other in an Asian adventure with a cherry twist.
Host: Dean McDermott Judges: Massimo Capra, John Higgins, Susur Lee

Judges: Melissa d’Arabian, Brian Malarkey, Aida Mollenkamp

Premiering Sunday, March 22nd at 8pm – “Music and Meatloaf”

Next, how do you make an appetizer with less-than-appetizing items from a sample table? Finally, the chef that makes the most daring dish after a two-minute dash for groceries gets to go on a Shopping Spree worth up to $20,000.
Judges: Christy Vega Fowler, Beau MacMillan, Catherine McCord

Premiering Sunday, March 29th at 8pm – “Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner”
Guy asks the chefs to give P’s a chance, since all the ingredients in their first dishes must start with that letter. Next, they must make a winner of a chicken dinner using a Grocery List that includes Asian hot pepper paste and candy. 1. I'll trade Southern at Heart for Heartland Table. I'll even give them Trisha Yearwood's stupid show.

  2. If I was on a boat with Melissa D'Arabian, I'd be tossing her off...

  4. Matt, I love you—and I try to avoid spelling corrections unless a poster kind of asks for it—but please don't fall into the trap of calling a restaurant owner a "restauranteur." It's bad enough that a raft of professionals pronounce it that way, but at least, let's spell it correctly. It's "restaurateur," with no n.

  5. I'd love Heartland to come back too.

  6. Loved Heartland Table...she was down-to-earth, unique, real, and a GREAT cook. Don't think Trisha Yearwood is much of a cook at all and when she starts singing, I switch to another channel.

  11. In addition to less "Dr. Phil" Irvine on the show, I think RI would be improved with more breaks. We get two "seasons" a calendar year or so. It feels like more. The schedule is probably driving the rushed feel or the show and causing them to lean on social work.

I like Beat Bobby Flay. It's not appointment TV, but I'm happy to watch when I stumble across it.

  12. I think RI would improve if they stopped making new episodes and aired re-runs of the first few seasons.

  13. Thanks for the heads-up! I set All Star Academy to record. I love Shark Tank and Restaurant Startup, so I'm giving Food Fortune a shot too. And I love all the Food Network Disney specials!

  15. Good Job.
Teach that boy racism early, let him know he might as well skip college and go right to prison.

  16. I don't care for Trisha Yearwood, I watched 10 seconds of her show, and it was more gossip than cooking. I'll take Heartland Table over Trisha's show.

  17. Seems to have touched a couple nerves. Is my statement true? Sorry, already set for college and understands the challenges. Reads and watch news media. Wonder if the network is owned by you two. Seem to have taken strong offense.

  20. I had exactly the same thought when I read the list of cooks who will be on the cruise. I absolutely loathe her and her speaking style makes me cringe.
