It sounds to me like they bought a multi-building property, on which Mike lives, and they've tied all of that to the performance of the restaurant. Given the decent reviews, Mike's comments about food costs, and the fact that Robert did not ream him about food costs, says to me that the place is probably functional, but short of profitable. There's no way that they've "lost" $750,000.00 on it. Far and away most of that is the property(ies) they hold mortgages on. They would recoup most of that on sale, and reap some benefit from appreciation if that area is developing. The parents should probably call Scott McGillivery at HGTV and turn something in to a rental property in the meantime, and get the hell out of the dude's restaurant.

However, I also think that Mike is another chef/cook who just wants to cook - not own and manage an entire restaurant. Those are two different things and we see it all the time on this show. It's like buying a hotel because you like servicing rooms or running a check-in desk. You have want to RUN a business and manage people and everything else - and I think deep down Mike just wants to be a cook.Michael D. So if it goes out of business because they veto the new menu, it's not much different from going out of business because they didn't support the old menu frequently enough. And none of those that whined about the menu bothered to admit the place looks much better inside. Heck, even Mary had to admit that, and actually hugged the designer after her flower paintings weren't included. At the very least, RI made improvements in the decor and communication, so the new menu can't be the reason for failure...vrocconoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8808060991534955915.post-21454740301649291562013-12-07T08:32:09.525-05:002013-12-07T08:32:09.525-05:00Yes, okay. I don't know what the hell "drinking with the bravo channel" is supposed to mean, but I suspect you drank quite a bit before coming up with what I'm sure you think is a marvellous bon mot.

You cannot divine from a forty-odd minute show that a man was an only child, unplanned pregnancy, or adoption simply because he has a terrible mother. News flash: Terrible parents come in all shapes and forms and in families of all sizes. Whatever the cause of the poor relationship between Mike and his mother, it's time he bucks up and cuts the tie. If he continues to keep taking money from his parents, here is a news flash: They will continue to feel they have a right to interfere in his professional life.

It's not science, granny. She clearly is. And I think that there is something to be said for the "misery loves company" theory, though we saw only the briefest glimpse into this family's workings over the course of a 43-minute, heavily edited reality show to draw any certainties about that. The conclusion I drew is that this guy needs to cut the ties - including the financial support - and live life on his own from here-on-in. At some point, a person has to choose: Money with conditions (including emotional abuse) or financial struggle on one's own terms.

But aside from that, the insane speculation about the details of his birth/birth order are just flabbergasting. We may as well pull out the Oujia board, so lacking in credibility are those sorts of assumptions.StellaBartoisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8808060991534955915.post-22191016825333479182013-12-07T05:34:53.872-05:002013-12-07T05:34:53.872-05:00The old goat in this episode needs to b taught a l...The old goat in this episode needs to b taught a lesson on how to talk to people. I almost fell out of my chair when she said the reason she works there is because people love her. I think she's a bit dilusional. Mike will never b a success as long as the wicked witch is always looking over his shoulder. One reason the restaurant was failing was having her as a hostess.
