Worst Cooks Celebrity Edition Elimination

Tonight on Food Network another contestant was sent home from Worst Cooks in America Celebrity Edition meaning there are only four contestants remaining.  On tonight's episode Nolan Gould was eliminated joining Bronson Pinchot as the celebrities eliminated so far.  He still gets to take home $2,500 for his charity.  The celebrities remaining include Catherine Bach, Maria Bamford, La Toya Jackson, Oscar Nunez, and Ian Ziering.

I know people wanted a place to discuss the season so far and upcoming episodes, so you can do so below.  I will also do an update at the end of the season when a winner is announced.

Food Network Star Season 14 Premieres June 10th

Food Network Star Contestants
Food Network Star will return for its 14th season on Sunday, June 10th at 9pm ET/PT. Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis will once again be the hosts/mentors for the season.  The finalists this season competing are: Harrison Bader (Los Angeles, CA); Katie Dixon (Hattiesburg, MS); Jason Goldsmith (New York, NY); Samone Lett (Sanford, FL); Rebekah Lingenfelser (Savannah, GA); Palak Patel (New York, NY); Christian Petroni (Port Chester, NY); Jessica Tom (Princeton, NJ); Chris Valdes (Miami, FL); Manny Washington (Orlando, FL).

Also returning will be Food Network Star: Comeback Kitchen. This is the third season in a row that has given previous Food Network Star contestants a chance to compete on the upcoming season. Food Network Star: Comeback Kitchen is three episodes long and starts on Sunday, May 27th at 9pm ET/PT, three weeks before the Food Network Star premiere. Comeback Kitchen will once again be co-hosted by Tyler Florence and Valerie Bertinelli.  The returning Food Network Star contestants are:

  • Trace Barnett (season 13)
    Comeback Kitchen Contestants
  • Adam Gertler (season 4)
  • Debbie Lee (season 5)
  • Yaku Moton-Spruill (season 12)
  • Sarah Penrod (season 10)
  • Amy Pottinger (season 13)
  • Monterey Salka (season 12)
  • Jernard Wells (season 12)

It is pretty interesting to see Adam Gertler in this group as he probably has been on Food Network more than half of the previous Food Network Star winners.

The web series Star Salvation is also back for season 14 and will be hosted by Alex Guarnaschelli.  This will give eliminated contestants  a chance to re-enter the competition on July 29th and become one of the final four contestants.

If you are interested in the bios of the contestants, episode descriptions, or pictures for this season, they can be found at Multivu.

Below is the press release about the upcoming season from Multivu.  As always, I will do another post about the contestants and where you have seen them closer to the season airing.

Iron Chef America Returns May 16th With Original Format

Photo - Twitter
Iron Chef Gauntlet is currently airing on Food Network with the winner possibly becoming an Iron Chef.  The season finale for Iron Chef Gauntlet is on May 9th, and the following week Iron Chef America will return.

With Iron Chef America, Food Network has decided to go back to the original format of the show.  So no showdown before the battle like in Iron Chef Showdown and possibly no culinary curveballs and gimmicks as in recent seasons.  It will be one chef going up against an Iron Chef in a secret ingredient challenge.  Food Network said in the press release, "Our audience wanted a return to classic Iron Chef America and we are thrilled to deliver just that."

The season of Iron Chef America will be 10 episodes long with the first episode being Brittany Anderson vs. Alex Guarnaschelli.  It looks like each week there will be two guest judges and the first week is Antonia Lofaso and Simon Majumdar.  Alton Brown will host, Marc Dacascos will be the chairman, and Jet Tila will be the floor reporter (so no more Jaymee Sire).

The episode descriptions are not out yet for the season, so I do not know which Iron Chefs will be on this season, but one that definitely will not be is Bobby Flay after quitting last season.

A press release about the show is below:

Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir To Host Food Network Show

Photo - Instagram
Former Olympic figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir will be hosting a new show on Food Network according to their recent social media posts.  Besides being former figure skaters Tara and Johnny are also a broadcast team which became popular after the Sochi Winter Olympics.  Tara Lipinksi posted the following message and picture on Instagram:

"We have some exciting news! We are hosting a new @foodnetwork series and I couldn’t be more excited. Anything that involves @johnnygweir and cake, I’m in. πŸŽ‚πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸ» Any guesses on what this show could be about? #foodnetwork #partnersincrime #cake πŸ‘— @likelynyc"

Tara has been posting Instagram stories of her and Johnny on set and it looks like the show is a wedding cake competition show.  Also appearing on her Instagram stories was Randy Fenoli who is a fashion designer of wedding dresses and also host of TLC's Say Yes to the Dress.  With Randy being on set, that supports the theory that it is a wedding cake themed competition show.

This will not be Johnny Weir's first time being on Food Network.  Johnny has also appeared on Food Network before as a competitor on Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-off Season 2 and also Chopped All-Stars.

When more details about the series are announced, I will do another post or update this one.  It seems like Food Network is going all-in on cake/baking related series.

Food Network's Duff Goldman Is Engaged

Photo - Instagram
Yesterday Duff Goldman revealed on Instagram that he got engaged.  He posted the following picture of his fiance Johnna Colbry with butcher's twine on her ring finger and the caption:

"I woke up yesterday and it felt like any other day. Sun was shining, birds was chirping. I made some coffee, ate a little breakfast, and got in the shower. I was shaving my head when like a mule kick to the heart I realized that I am absolutely in love with Johnna ( @letushear ) and I can’t imagine living another day without her in my life. She is kind, funny, smart, beautiful, cool, wise, and sexy. She’s a tempest of feeling. I didn’t plan this out, it just happened and it was so glaringly obvious that I couldn’t have stopped it if I wanted to. I asked her to marry me. She said yes. I cannot imagine a state of happiness that is more intense than whatever I’m feeling right now. My heart just might burst. I love you muffin. I love every scar. I love the way you smell. I’m sorry I didn’t have a real ring. I hope you don’t mind butcher’s twine, I am a chef, after all."

Here is a picture of Duff Goldman and Johnna Colbry from a December vacation.

Congrats to Duff and Johnna!

This is the second recent Food Network engagement with Katie Lee also getting engaged recently.
