Paula Deen's Mobile Game - 'Paula Deen's Cooking Quest' - And It's Bizarre Ad

Paula Deen Ventures announced yesterday that Paula Deen is releasing a free mobile game called Paula Deen's Cooking Quest.  The Paula Deen character in the game is pictured to the right.

The game is described as:
"Featuring 40 levels of puzzles, players will mix and match ingredients to Paula’s popular Southern dishes and collect downloadable recipe cards as they complete each level. Players can connect with friends and compete to have their scores highlighted on Paula’s leaderboard. Recipes and puzzles will be added to the app each week, providing players with new challenges and more scrumptious fun.
Paula Deen’s Recipe Quest takes gamers through Paula’s illustrious culinary career. Players will start as an amateur chef in a home kitchen while learning the basics of cooking. As they progress to higher levels, players will make their way up to cooking at Paula’s restaurant, The Lady & Sons, and to eventually owning their own virtual restaurant.
All gamers will have the opportunity to win real prizes such as the chance to cook alongside Paula on the Paula Deen Network. Other prizes include discounts at Paula Deen’s General Store and subscriptions to the Paula Deen Network."
My guess is that her Food Network stint and racism scandal will be left out of the "illustrious culinary career' in the game.  While the game is free to download, it does offer in game purchases, so they will probably be trying to make their money with that.

Also there is a pretty bizarre slow motion video advertising the game, and that video is after the jump:

Is this supposed to be sexy? fun?.... Who knows what they were trying to do with this ad....

  1. Against my better judgment and knowing I'd end up annoyed, I watched this. What I learned is that Paula is going to start with basic cooking lessons that involve dropping raw eggs into flour from 4 feet up. Good grief.

  4. There really are NOT enough words to describe how very bad this ad is. Not sure who advised her on this, but it was bad advice.

I know it is a minute video (and god only knows why I clicked it) but I can't watch it all the way through. Her facial reactions makes me believe she is on drugs or something. Oh, and if this is an indie game or something I've seen better (hell, the Japanese Trailer for Bokujou Monogatari: Futago no Mura aka Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns was better than this).

  8. Interesting that you mention Japanese games since Paula's face is now stretched so tight her eyes are taking on an East Asian appearance.

And I can't get the the song "Turning Japanese" out of my head now.

  9. This is a woman whose name is on mattresses sold at Big Lots.

How can anything she offers be taken seriously?

I'm sorry and I only mentioned Japanese game trailers because I've seen some off the wall stuff. But this, this takes the cake on strange.

  12. Half of her recipes involve opening a can of cream of mushroom soup.

  16. The nature of a celebrities career is to shine for awhile and then fade away. Seems PD can't accept that the party is over. Better to leave with some dignity intact then to go out as a buffoon.

  17. I must have missed the time when she had dignity in the first place.
