'Duff Till Dawn' with Duff Goldman - New Competition Show In January

Photo - Food Network
A new series called Duff Till Dawn on the Food Network will premiere on the Food Network on Thursday, January 29th at 10:30pm.  The six episode series is yet another competition show on the channel, and will be hosted by Duff Goldman.  In each episode, two teams of cake decorators compete against each other by trying to finish their cake decorations before sunrise and they have to pull all-nighters to do so.  There will be a rotating panel of judges, which include:
  • Haylie Duff (actress/food blogger/sister of Hillary Duff)
  • Elena Fox and Geof Manthorne (Ace of Cakes)
  • Carrie Keagan (VH1's Morning Buzz)
  • Catherine McCord (Guy's Grocery Games judge)
  • Alysia Reiner (Actress - Orange is the New Black),
  • Kelis Rogers (Musician known for her song "Milkshake" which brings all the boys to the yard)
  • Aarti Sequeira (Aarti Party/Food Network Star)
  • Kevin Smith (Writer/Director/Actor/Producer)
The prize for winning appears to be "bragging rights and the coveted golden whisk," which doesn't sound like much of a prize.  Duff Goldman seems to be back in the rotation at the Food Network with his judging of the Holiday Baking Championship and now this new series Duff Till Dawn.

Duff Goldman to Host New Food Network Series DUFF TILL DAWN, 1/29

When the sun sets, the ultimate underground cake competition begins on new series Duff Till Dawn, premiering on Thursday, January 29th at 10:30pm ET/PT on Food Network. Host Duff Goldman's bakery becomes a battleground after hours for two talented teams of cake decorators, as their skills and creativity are tested with challenges and twists to create the most outstanding and over-the-top cakes. Competitors must amaze rotating judges Haylie Duff (Real Girl's Kitchen), Elena Fox (Ace of Cakes), Carrie Keagan (Television Personality), Geof Manthorne (Ace of Cakes), Catherine McCord (Guy's Grocery Games), Alysia Reiner (Actress), Kelis Rogers (Musician and Host of Holiday Feast with Kelis), Aarti Sequeiria (Aarti Party), Kevin Smith (Writer/Director) and Sherry Yard (Cutthroat Kitchen) with the boldest, tastiest and most impressive cakes for the chance to win bragging rights and the coveted golden whisk.

"The one-of-a-kind Duff Goldman is the master of dazzling and astonishing cakes," said Bob Tuschman, General Manager and Senior Vice President Programming, Food Network. "In Duff Till Dawn, he tests the bakers on these same talents and abilities, as well as their ability to pull all-nighters."

The competition is anything but sweet in this six-episode series. In each episode, two new teams must outdo their competition with their special talents and original cake creations before sunrise, when only one will be crowned the winner. It is complete monster mayhem in one challenge, as the bakers race to make their creations come to life. In another episode, one team will sink and the other will swim, as they create their dream ships out of cake. Is it all smooth sailing, or are the teams headed for troubled waters? It is blast off into outer space in another challenge, where the teams must aim for the stars with gravity defying confections. In another enchanting episode, the decorators delve into the land of make believe as they are challenged to make magical fairy cakes. It is a castle clash in another challenge, where the bakers must joust for the golden whisk. Which team's medieval manor will take the cake in this gauntlet?

Throughout the season, fans can meet the bold pro-bakers, see photos of their fierce cake creations, and much more at FoodNetwork.com/DuffTillDawn. Fans can also tweet about the overnight battle using the hashtag #DuffTillDawn.

  1. There seems to be a new trend in cooking competitions toward after-hours contests. The fyi, Network has aired both Midnight Feast and Late Nite Chef Fight, and now FN is going to air its own after-dark series.

  2. There was a bar near me called "Dunes till Dawn". Maybe some tincture of the fruit of the vine would help this show.

  3. The FYI shows immediately came to mind and those shows only offer bragging rights as prizes too, IIRC. This seems like a lot more work, so some kind of actual prize would have been nice to see.

  4. Duff seems to lose every cooking show contest he is in.

  5. Not really. Back in the day, he beat Elizabeth Falkner in a Food Network Challenge in which they had to make neighborhoods. Falkner's Lower East Side sank below the minimum height, and Duff's Baltimore Harbor won when he cleverly saved his World Trade Center building after Falkner reported him for using an illegal support.

I was Duff's personality that inspired FN to launch Ace of Cakes.

  6. That was a contest making big cakes more for looks than taste. That is what he does.

  7. Doesn't matter. he still has a win under his belt. And the cakes at Charm City aren't just gimmicky designs; they taste very good too.

  8. It looks like Emeril is getting a show I think TNT. I don't think they mention time of day, I was only half paying attention to the commercial. For sure it was a network that hasn't had any cooking shows.

  9. Emeril already has a cooking competition show on TNT. It's called On The Menu.

  10. Duff has another show coming up. I just saw a commercial for a kid's baking contest he hosts along with Valerie Bertandernie running in February. FN seems to be recycling all of their hosts wherever they can.

  11. But he has like 10 losses, any time he tries to cook anything. I am not into baking, although I make bread....

  12. And it is terrible.

  13. And yet, I can't stop watching it.

  14. I finally saw it. It does plod along. Emeril seems bored. But, any show that the host yells, "Pull your pork" and manages to use every possible Beavis and Butthead type giggle inducing version of it gets my thumbs up!

  15. I watch this show, and I'm not entirely sure why.

  16. When the winning recipe is a hamburger with a fried pepper and cheese on it... well...

  17. No more Down Home with the Neely's? OH DARN.

  18. What's the song in the commercial? It's got sick sounding guitar in it.
