Food Network's 'The Kitchen' Renewed For 2nd Season

Photo - Food Network
It was announced today that the Food Network has renewed The Kitchen for a 2nd season, which means an additional 13 episodes will be filmed.  The Kitchen has had solid ratings in the Saturday morning at 11am time slot with over 1 million viewers for each episode that has aired up until now.

TheWrap reported the renewal, and Bob Tuschman was quoted as saying:
"We can’t wait to get back into ‘The Kitchen’ for a second helping of food, fun and conversation.  The talented cast and casual, engaging format have struck a chord with our audience, and we are looking forward to cooking up more episodes for fans to enjoy."
This shouldn't come as a surprise to many with the ratings the show was pulling in.  Sunny Anderson, Katie Lee, Jeff Mauro, Marcela Valladolid and Geoffrey Zakarian will remain co-hosts of the show..  This may disappoint some people judging by the comments of a previous post on The Kitchen.  Many people have had complaints about Katie Lee.

As of right now, it is not known when the 2nd season will premiere, but it will probably not be too long after the first season.

  1. The only way this show could be worse is if Guy Fieri was added to the cast.

  2. Katie Lee is terrible on this show. Her blank expression and irritating voice need to go! There are so many talented personalities on the network....she just doesn't fit in with that group at all. Everyone else does an awesome job!

  3. I wanted to like it, but the show feels so forced, and it's weird to hear all the off-camera hoots and applause but never show a real audience. And for heaven's sake, why did they make GZ take off his glasses?

  4. I'll be interested to see a second season of this show. I think it's coming along.

  5. I'd be interested in seeing updates about the festival. Matt, are you there?

  6. I really like Jeff, but the whole unitard thing was really uncalled for. I kind of liked this show until that moment. Now I am worried they will do something so foolish it will make me uncomfortable.

  7. Aw! I'm in the same boat.

  8. Watched part of the show a few different episodes but...I'm just not feelin' it with this show. Zakarian is highly competent but just seems so stiff and serious. I DO find Katie to be quite pleasant to listen to....but I much prefer one cook per show. This could be a bunch of cooks getting together after work or meeting at one of their houses and talking shop. I suppose it fills a niche, having a talk-show sort of format, but just isn't my thing. On another note, I find the show: Worst Cooks in America to be both hilarious and also kinda heart-warming, to see people improve w/Bobby Flay or Anne Barrel. While The Kitchen has useful tips, I much order to get them from One Chef who has their own show rather than anything from a group. Personal preference.

  9. This is the most interesting thing FN does and they do ZERO shows on it!

  10. Too funny! One of the reasons why I like the show is because Geoffrey Zakarian is so serious! I like the combination of personalities here; Geoffrey tends to be serious, Sunny Anderson tends to be upbeat, and Jeff Mauro is usually fairly silly. Katie has definitely grown on me.

    I agree regarding Worst Cooks.

  11. Unitard thing? I must have missed that. What happened?

  12. I know! Why don't they cover this?

  13. Chef Michael Symon won the Burger Bash today.

  14. Because it would make too much sense?

  15. You missed Jeff wearing a unitard?

  16. Same person posting. Vinkie/quiki (forgot I registered) Jeff wore a full body unitard with a burger embellished on the front. He pranced about in front of Brian Boitano and called his move a double provolone. It was as awkward as it sounds.

  17. Isn't he 3 for 4? The Chew on ABC will cover this, but FN won't.

  18. Yet another reason why I should actually watch The Chew. Thank you!

  19. I DVR the Chew everyday. It is dorky and fun. The hosts are great.

  21. I hope you like it. The cast genuinely likes each other. It can be over the top but it has an honest vibe.
