Tonight on Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell, Anne is hoping to find an executive chef for Blaue Gans in New York City.  She is helping restaurateur Kurt Gutenbrunner in an episode called "Austrian Wirsthaus."  The season is almost over, so I will do these updates for the remaining episodes just to keep track of who actually wins and if they stay or even work at the restaurant.  The chefs competing tonight include:

On the Blaue Gans Facebook Page, they posted:
"Tune in to Food Network tonight at 10pm and watch 4 chefs compete to become our new executive chef! Who will win!? You'll have to watch to find out!"
I will guess that whoever wins doesn't stay, considering the contestants are all from outside of New York.  We will see after the episode airs, but I will update this post with the winner and if they are still at the restaurant when the show is over.

Update - Carsten Vollrath and Kenny Seliger advanced to the final dinner service, and Carsten Vollrath ended up winning this episode of Chef Wanted.

Carsten Vollrath

In what will probably shock no one, Carsten decided not to take the job at Blaue Gans.  He instead moved to Atlanta 'to be closer to his daughter.'  Maybe Anne put the restaurant on the show as a favor to Kurt Gutenbrunner for the free publicity.

  1. Chef Carsten is not only an excellent chef but a wonderfully nice guy. He took my 12 year old on a tour of SIBA and allowed him to see a real commercial kitchen. He has always wanted to be a chef and he saw first hand from the master what it involves. He made a lasting impression and made a little boys dream come true. Go Chef Carsten!!!

  2. Another chef turns down the job they were PLEADING to get. No surprise, just more lies.

  3. Very disappointed in this show and the facade that it is real when after each episode we find out the 'winning' chef is not an executive chef after all for that restaurant. I like Ann but the show is just that a show, not authentic.

  4. HE DIDNT TAKE THE JOB BECAUSE HE WOULD HAVE TO ACTUALLY PAY HIS CHILD SUPPORT....WHICH HE OWES OVER $9,000

  5. I really like this show but am disappointed once again to find out that the winning chef didn't take the executive chef position. It appears that the purpose of the show is to give attention and advertising to the featured restaurant. I hate phony "reality" TV.

  6. I think it's time to remove "Chef Wanted" from my DVR list. Sorry Anne.

  7. I'm watching the re-run right now. I certainly wouldn't want to work for the restaurant owner. Chef Carsten is better off for not taking this job.
